To showcase the heart, community, and impact of Focus Surrey, I voluntarily directed and produced an official promotional short documentary for the charity. Highlighted on the charity’s official website, this video offers an inside look at the club’s mission through real stories, parent testimonials, and inspiring moments of children thriving together.
My Creative Concern
Focus Surrey is a charity supporting children with autism through Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). While their impact on children’s development was undeniable, the general public and prospective families often lacked a clear, human understanding of how ABA works in a warm, real-world setting, as well as the deep community of support the charity creates for parents.
My Perspective
My goal went beyond creating a standard promotional video. I wanted to capture the genuine atmosphere of the space, the joyful energy of children learning through play, the dedication of the volunteers, and the emotional reality of raising a child with autism. Through intimate interviews with founder Susan Archdall, long-term volunteers, and parents, I aimed to highlight the charity not just as a service, but as a vital lifeline and a compassionate community.
The Results
The resulting short documentary was voluntarily produced and officially adopted by Focus Surrey to be featured on their website. It serves as their main visual storytelling piece, helping the charity raise awareness, build trust with new families, and showcase the real-world impact of their work to potential volunteers and supporters.
